Wheatsborough Solar, LLC is preparing to construct the Wheatsborough Solar Facility on leased private land in Groton Township (Erie County). The solar farm will consist of up to 700 acres of solar panels, along with access roads, electric collection cables, a substation, a temporary laydown yard(s), an operation and maintenance storage container and a battery energy storage system.
Please be assured that during work on the project described above, Wheatsborough Solar will comply with all applicable federal, state and local laws, regulations and ordinances. Prior to commencing construction of the facility, Wheatsborough Solar will comply with all applicable pre-construction conditions of the certificate issued by the Ohio Power Siting Board.
Timeline for Construction of the Project
Construction of the Wheatsborough Solar Facility is expected to begin on or around 10/25/2022. The Facility is anticipated to be in-service by the second quarter of 2024. Construction in 2022 will include activities such as cover crop planting and tree clearing, with full construction starting around spring 2023.
Construction activities will occur only on property that Wheatsborough Solar has leased or purchased for the project. In areas where disturbances occur that are temporary in nature outside of panel areas, access roads, etc., Wheatsborough Solar will restore the property that is temporarily disturbed to the state that it was in prior to the construction activities. Once the work is complete, restoration will begin as soon as weather permits.
If you have tenants occupying this parcel, please advise them of this solar energy project.
